ODV Release 5.8.3 (Windows, macOS, Linux) Oct/20/2025:
• The station map now highlights the stations of the current cruise. This new feature is on by default, but can be switched off (or on) on the General page of the map’s Properties dialog.
• The Export > Window Data > … menus now let the user choose export to a file as well as the clipboard.
• New options Extras > Load Reference Data > … from a file as well as from the clipboard lets you load reference data and calculate and display difference or ratio with the data of the receiving data window. The receiving window must currently use DIVA gridding.
• Hovering the mouse over Cruise in the current station metadata window shows the cruise summary information as tooltip.
• Graphics export into .eps files enabled again in RWebServer.
• Option Export > Data > SDN Aggregated ODV can now be used repeatedly on previously aggregated ODV collections.
• The ODV search bar now shows the current match number and the total number of matches. The current match is highlighted and more easily visible.
• The number of decimals used when showing values of numeric data or meta variables can now be easily customized, even for large sets of variables at once, via the variables Properties dialog. Right-click on a data or meta variable name, select the group of variables to be adjusted (e.g., Ctrl-A for all), then click Edit and specify the digits count.
• The View > Settings > Import > Spreadsheet Import (odv > Preferences on macOS) page now allows to specify a second set of station break position/time tolerances to be applied in case the import file does not contain station labels.
• The graphics objects context menu option Export Object as well as the Export button on the graphics object manager dialog now allow export to the clipboard in addition to a file.
• Graphics objects menu option from CDT File renamed to Geographic Feature.
• Selecting a layout template via left-click on the plus (+) button now maintains current map properties, station filter, derived variables and isosurface variables.
• New command line argument -background_color rgb(r,g,b) for setting the canvas background color (example: -background_color rgb(225,225,225)).
BUG FIXES
• Geographic features from the overlays subdirectory are now drawn correctly when selected as additional graphics objects.
• Fixed crashes when reading very long netCDF string attribute texts.
